Bridget is a senior lecturer and pioneer head of the Depatment of Fine Art and Design in the University of Port Harcourt. In 2010 she was appointed an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State.
She studied at Auchi Polytechnic,(OND) University of Ife,(B.A. Hons) University of Benin,(MFA) and the University of Ibadan(Ph D). She also obtained a post graduate diploma in Fine Art at the University of Port Harcourt.(PGDE).
Bridget is considered one of Nigerians outstanding and academically trained Nigerian Art historian and painter, who has in various ways propagated the visual Art subject. She has through workshops and exhibitions with children and adults inspired several upcoming artists as well as art lovers.
Bridget Nwanze uses Art for therapy and as communication tool. The strength of her forms appeal to conscience. She subtly in her works modify ideas detrimental to women’s wellbeing.
She is a curator and an Orator as well as Editorial Board member of several professional Journals. Bridget is an External Examiner for Fine Arts in several higher institutions in Nigeria, including University of Nigeria Nsukka and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She is a member of several professional associations which includes Angala Artists, The Nigerian Field Society, National Association of Women in Academics (NAWACS) and the World Society of Victimology (WSV) (International). She is currently the National President of The Female Artists Association of Nigeria (FAAN)- and the immediate past Chairman of Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA)- Rivers and Bayelsa State Chapter.
As a recipient of several awards, Bridget is a committed Catholic and currently the President, Catholic Women Organization Mater Cath. Church Port Harcourt and recently elected the President of all presidents of the entire Port Harcourt Diocese.
She is married with four children and a grand child.
